Events

1. Championship - open to players resident in the Lothians

2. Star-barred - Grading limit 2150

3. Major - Grading limit 1700

4. Minor - Grading limit 1500

5. Knights - Grading limit 1300

Prizes

Championship:
1st Prize £120 & Smerdon Cup
2nd Prize £60
The top three players qualify for the ‘East of Scotland Championship’

Other events:
1st Prize £120
2nd Prize £60

In the Knights Event, the highest placed junior, under 16 (on the day of the tournament) and within the grading limit of 1000, will receive £20.
There will be £20 Giant-killing event.

Entry Fees

Adults - £16
Juniors (under 18) - £10

Entries should be received by Thursday, 3rd January. Chess Scotland members may deduct £2.
Senior citizens and unemployed may deduct £4.

Tournament Details

Rates of play: 30 moves in 60 minutes followed by
Quickplay Finish of 15 minutes.

• Saturday, Round 1 - 10.00 to 12.30
• Saturday, Round 2 - 13.30 to 16.00
• Saturday, Round 3 - 16.45 to 19.15
• Sunday, Round 4 - 10.00 to 12.30
• Sunday, Round 5 - 13.30 to 16.00

Conditions

The organisers reserve the right to:

• Increase or decrease prize money.

• Transfer entrants between events.

• Withhold prizes from ungraded players if they
  play in events below their known strength.

• Take any other measures deemed necessary to
  ensure the smooth running of the congress.

Refreshments and lunches are available.

No smoking allowed in the Centre.
